OFFENSE
The Cache Bulldogs look to bounce back after a five and five season a year ago and bring back plenty of pieces to do just that. Fourth year head coach Faron Griffin thinks the Bulldogs have had a great offseason, making next season something to look forward to. On offense, the Bulldogs bring back five starters from last years team. They look to run a lot of formations and motion to cause confusion and alignment difficulty for opposing teams. On the offensive line is Jeffrey Paddyaker (6-3, 325, Sr.), who gets praise from his coach. “Jeffrey is a big, strong, physical athlete with good feet and a little nastiness. He will be a force on both sides of the ball,” Griffin said. Lining up next to Paddyaker is offensive lineman Kenny Wermy (6-6, 295, Jr.). Wermy brings more experience to the line, after getting playing time as a sophomore the year before. Jaylen Niedo (6-4, 220, Sr.) is a name people should pay attention to. After a successful 2020 season playing both tight end and defensive end, the coaches expect more this year. Playing the receiver positions, Reid Lyon (6-0, 190, Sr.) and Braden Castro (5-7, 165, Jr.) bring quickness and athleticism to the field and seek more touches in the upcoming season. Zack Johnson (6-0, 205, Sr.) will be playing the running back position and looks to use his explosiveness and speed to have a successful senior campaign.
DEFENSE
On defense, the Bulldogs bring back six starters from last years team. They plan on playing a 4-3 formation, playing fast and aggressive, swarming the ball. Niedo and Johnson were names to pay attention to, not just on offense, but defense as well. Niedo will line up at the defensive end position, while Johnson will line up at linebacker. Assuming another linebacker position is Drake Jones (5-10, 175, Jr.) who has proved he deserves a starting spot after a solid sophomore season followed by a successful offseason. Keegan Link (6-1, 175, Sr.) looks to bring experience to the secondary. Returning to the defensive line are Tye Brinsfieldd (6-3, 285, Sr.) and Joseph Redina Brown (6-4, 295, Jr.). After giving up nearly 25 points per game to their opponents, the Bulldog defense is ready to lower that number and prove that hard work pays off.
