Q & A with Cache’s Kayla Timmons Presented by Arvest Bank

Kayla Timmons – Cache High School (Arvest)
by Trina Walker
Kayla Timmons, a senior at Cache High School answers a few questions about how
softball has helped her grow, on and off the field.
Q: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?
A: How I express my character. People watch and pick up your actions, especially
young kids. My coach tells our team that we are definitely someone’s role model,
whether we know it or not, and the way I act on the field playing, or the way I act in the
classroom shows who I am as a person.
Q: What is your favorite part about being on a team?
A: The relationships I built with all my teammates. I have gained many new friendships
thanks to the years of playing this sport, and I wouldn’t trade any of the time I spent on
anything else.
Q: Why are you passionate about your sport?
A: The accomplishment I feel after putting in so much effort far outweighs everything I
had to go through to get where I am now. It’s not just for softball, but in general, putting
your own time and effort into something you love to do gives you that sense of
accomplishment that every person strives for.
Q: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
A: My freshman year, I had the amazing chance to play with my senior, Krista
Yackeyonney. She’s selfless and serves her teammates without hesitating. I am still
trying to live up to the legacy she left behind while hoping to leave it behind with a little
bit of my own legacy for the future of Cache Softball.
Q: When and how did you first get into playing your sport?
A: The summer before middle school. At first, I wasn’t even sure if I wanted to play,
especially since I didn’t have any experience. I am a shy person, and joining a sports
team was putting myself in a completely new environment. The person who convinced
me was my best friend, Maddie Tate.
Q: Here is your chance to give a shoutout to anyone you wish.
A: My Coach, Miles Smith has made a big impact on my life. He is the best Coach and
figure anyone could have in their life. The team and program he leads has made me
enjoy playing all these years.
Q: What is your favorite memory of playing?
A: Cheering on my teammates from the dugout. I remember games more for the
energy and encouragement than the plays I make in the field.
Q: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?

A: Be yourself. Having confidence and knowing your self-worth is the best thing you can
give yourself, and the best way to confirm that is to surround yourself with people that
make you feel good. It’s easy to be your true self when you have people who love you
and won’t judge you.
