Cache High School’s Hadlee Hunt
Cache High School senior Hadlee Hunt approaches softball with the steady mindset of a pitcher and the perspective of a teammate who values people beyond the scoreboard. Hunt, a senior pitcher, said the lessons she has learned through athletics will stay with her long after her playing days.
“Athletics has taught me how to have grit and resilience during tough situations. It has taught me how to not shy away from uncomfortable moments, but instead to face them head on with my full effort.”
Pitching requires both physical skill and composure, especially when pressure rises. Hunt said that responsibility is one of the position’s greatest challenges.
“I am a pitcher, and the most difficult thing about being one is learning how to hold my composure in high pressure situations. I am in control of the field, and I have to command it with confidence. When certain things do not go my way I have to bounce back fast, and sometimes that is difficult.”
At the plate, Hunt focuses on adaptability. Rather than using the same approach against every opponent, she adjusts to each pitcher while maintaining an aggressive mentality.
“My process at the plate is to be loose and have an adjustable approach. Every pitcher is different, and I have to be flexible for what works best. I always tell myself to be aggressive and attack the pitcher with a “do damage” mindset.”
Hunt said her favorite part of the team experience is the culture created among players and coaches.
“I love the culture that our team is built on. We love each other as people and human beings. That means more than our performance on the field. My teammates are my best friends and supporters in everything I do. They support my success, and I support theirs!”
Away from softball, Hunt credits her family for consistently encouraging her. Her parents and grandmother have shaped her drive to improve, and she values time outdoors with her family on their farm in Grandfield.
“My parents inspire me to be the best version of myself every single day. They are always supportive of me no matter what I do. The countless hours my dad has spent catching and hitting with me will always be remembered. I am also extremely grateful for my mom and how she dedicates her time to make sure I am always taken care of. She is always there for me whenever I need a little pep talk, or encouragement. My nana also inspires me to do my bst. She is one of my biggest supporters and sources of encouragement. Seeing her at my games always puts a smile on my face. I want to thank both of my parents for all that they pour into me! I love you both!”
