There is a lot of time and effort that athletes invest in order to become the best they can at their sport. But when they play multiple sports throughout the year, that workload can become even heavier. Jacee Seaton says that while it can get tough at times, she knows that it will be worth it.
“Being a multi-sport athlete takes lots and lots of sacrifice, discipline and hard work,” she stated. “I started playing club soccer in the Oklahoma City area when I was eight and I travel up there three to four times a week for training, which is three hours round trip. So, as soon as I get home from school sports, I head up to soccer practice and have to eat dinner and do homework on the way up and back and usually get home around 11:00 PM. This routine has given me the skills to be disciplined in sports, but it has also taught me that hard work pays off.”
Seaton is a junior at Cache High School, where she is a member of the soccer and track teams. Outside of sports, she is also involved in the student council and the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America
Along with all the work she has put in, Jacee also has a number of people that have been there to help her and encourage her along the way.
“I have had some great influences in my life,” she said. “My former and current high school track coaches, Coach Huff and Coach Thompson and my former high school soccer coach, Coach Dewinter, have always believed in me and pushed me to reach my fullest potential. My former club soccer coach and current trainer Gabi Da Silva is always there to give me advice and has so much confidence in my abilities. Last but definitely not least, my Mom and Dad who are always there to do whatever it takes to help me reach my goals.”
Seaton is also thankful for the teammates that she competes alongside because she enjoys the time that she spends with them.
“It’s so great to be a part of a team with the same group of girls through the years, who are all working hard to achieve the same goals and the sense of accomplishment you get after winning that big game, event, or meet against a rival is just the best.”
